All of these features and more are packed inside a five-seater wagon with a starting price of $29,620 for the base trim. If you’re struggling to decide which trim from the Outback lineup would be best for you, our team of Subaru experts is here to help. We’ve put together an overview of each trim’s main features so you can compare them and make your choice.

Outback Trims Overview

Subaru offers the Outback in nine trims for the 2023 model year. One of the reasons for the Outback’s strong position in the wagon vehicle class is the variety of features you can choose from, allowing you to stick with a functional but upscale cabin or go for something more luxurious. The nine trims for you to choose from are the base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, Touring, Onyx Edition XT, Wilderness, Limited XT, and Touring XT.

The Outback is a two-row wagon with a spacious cargo area at the rear. Both rows are suitable for adult passengers, and you’ll find two sets of LATCH connectors in the second row for installing kids’ seats. If both rows are in use, you’ll have over 32 cubic feet of storage space at the rear, more than any other new wagon. When the rear row is folded flat, you’ll have over 75 cubic feet of cargo capacity to work with. It offers a long list of standard safety features, including adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.

The starting price for the base trim is just over $29,620. The MSRP for the top Touring XT trim comes in at over $43,520. You could find great deals on an Outback by checking out our new vehicle specials page.

Base

Like all Outback models, the base trim comes standard with all-wheel drive. It’s powered by a 2.5-liter flat-four engine that puts out 182 horsepower. Inside the cabin, the Outback base is fitted with cloth upholstery. There are dual 7-inch touch screens for controlling the infotainment system, which features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. You can enjoy your favorite music through a four-speaker stereo and relax in comfort, thanks to the automatic climate control.

Premium

The main upgrades in the Premium trim are to the infotainment system. You get a larger 11.6-inch display instead of the dual screens in the base model. In addition, you’ll have wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. The cabin benefits from a power-adjustable driver’s seat and heated front seats.

Onyx Edition

A package offering a moonroof, rear automatic emergency braking, and a navigation system is available. Overall, this trim is a great balance between affordability and a touch of luxury that will make the cabin a more pleasant place to spend time.

Limited

In addition, you’ll have a power-adjustable passenger seat, heated rear seats, and a 12-speaker stereo. Other new additions to the cabin include proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and a hands-free power liftgate to make it easier to load items at the rear.

Touring

These include nappa leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and ventilated front seats. When you’re behind the wheel, you’ll benefit from the assistance of a driver attention monitor that lets you know when it’s time to take a break. There’s also a moonroof and a navigation system to guide you to your next destination.

Onyx Edition XT

The Onyx Edition XT is the first trim in the lineup to offer the turbocharged four-cylinder engine as standard. This 2.4-liter engine puts out 260 horsepower, providing you with plenty of passing power on the highway. On top of that, this trim has heated rear seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and a moonroof. This setup is ideal if you plan on spending most of your time on the highway. The stronger engine will also allow you to reach the top 3,500-pound towing capacity.

Wilderness

You also get all-terrain tires for better grip and control. The rugged exterior features unique to this trim complement its more adventurous capabilities. Inside the cabin, you won’t be short on luxury thanks to heated rear seats and a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat.
